“Twenty years ago the only way to Whistler without a car cost about as much as the lift ticket, and had to be booked at a bus station a week ahead. So I built a bus company, got the licence, and ran it.

What I learned running it is that transport was just one of many problems in a ski trip. The rental shop, the instructor, the restaurant, the group of four trying to agree on a weekend — none of them are connected to each other, and every skier pays for that.
